I can give you some information on this poster (http://eng.plakaty.ru/posters?id=1757 ), hope you still need it.

1) THE WRITING. The topic of the poster is actually stated in the top line: The System of Party Education (система партийного просвещения). So it's about the importance of the communist theory being taught to people/workers on all levels. The second line says: 1 Infrastructure (1 низовая сеть). And then you get that quotation from Lenin over the next 4 lines top and bottom of the poster. It says literally: WITHOUT A REVOLUTIONARY theory there cannot be a revolutionary MOVEMENT. As you can see, the emphasised words link Revolution and Movement.
The fact that the phrase is a citation is confirmed by Lenin's name in the bottom right corner of the red box (Ленин).

2) The PORTRAITS are indeed of Lenin and Karl Marx (more info on him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_marx ). Since they were 2 out of the 3 renowned ideologists of the communism (the 3rd one being Friedrich Engels), it's quite logical that they are the main images on their poster. It was their works that needed to be studied (and were studies for decades) by the masses.

3) The PICTURES in the photomontage are newspaper clippings illustrating various ways of educating people. The one in the centre above the star actually features the newspaper title - ПРАВДА (Pravda - meaning "The Truth" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pravda ), which was the leading newspaper of the Communist Party.
The picture just below the star is a school teacher. The picture to the left of it shows evening classes I think, which used to be popular with factory workers etc. I don't think the pictures around the star feature anyone famous. The ones INSIDE THE STAR, however, seem to be showing how the revolution was done, and in the clipping on the left you can see Lenin again, Stalin and some other revolutionaries. Bottom right of the star shows the Navy soldiers, and the top picture in the star just shows "the masses".
The TEXT around the star and other pictures says repeatedly: School, Political Primers, For Town(s), For Village(s) etc.

4) The red five-pointed STAR in the middle is indeed the symbol of the Russian revolution and of communism in general: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_star It was featured in the flag of the USSR: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_USSR

I hope you found this info helpful!
References :
for free, the paint.net and gimp is two smart choice.
Paint.NET is free image and photo editing software for computers that run Windows. It features an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. An active and growing online community provides friendly help, tutorials, and plugins.

Gimp is a self contained appication bundle of the GNU Image Manipulation Program for Mac OS X. Gimp.app is droppable, uses the gimp-print package built into OS X, and uses the system's default web browser for help and web browsing requests.

both of them are free.
References :
Hello, you can download Picasa for free at picasa.google.com. Picasa will also allow you to create movies (with music) out of your photos. However, my favorite editing site is Picnik. It's $25 for a year but it's so much more functional, easy to use and allows you to make holiday cards and collages as well. www.picnik.com.
References :
Nothing good is free.

Buy Adobe Photoshop CS4.
If you take shots in raw format then you can do amazing adjustments just by opening these files in photoshop. There is a builtin raw format converter - awesome.

Just get Photoshop it is the one and only.
Trust me
References :
Me

It should connect with a mini USB cable, and drag and drop.

I have a feeling the USB may be proprietary to Coby.
